Q: How long does the course last?
A: All three of our Primary QTS courses last for one academic year.

Q: Am I eligible to apply?
A: Candidates must have secured or be in the process of securing (before course commencement)

  • GCSE C or above in Maths, English and Science.
  • A degree at class 2:2 or above in a National Curriculum subject or relevant applied discipline. We can consider a Third however we would need to see the Transcript for module credits.

Q: Which university will I be aligned with?
A: The School Direct programme is accredited by the Pennine Lancashire SCITT. The PGCE element of the course is delivered by the University of Cumbria and is delivered at Tor View School, Ewood Campus.

Q: How much does the course cost?
A: £9250

Q: Can I get help financially while completing the course?
A: We do not offer any financial recompense, however bursaries and funding may be available to you depending on your qualifications and circumstances. Further information can be found here.

Q: When can I apply?
A: Applications for Teacher Training are currently open.

Q: Can I train as a teacher whilst working in another school as a TA?
A: Our course is a full-time non-salaried QTS course, however we hope to be able to organise teacher training apprenticeships that will allow you to train where you currently work. Please be aware that you must be employed as an unqualified teacher by your host school/organisation. More details will be available in coming months. Due to COVID-19, this training route has, sadly, been put on hold until further notice.
