Welcome
We would like to extend a very warm welcome from all the staff at HORIZONS, our After School Care provision, specifically designed to meet the needs of our pupils at Tor View School. HORIZONS is currently managed by Lyndsay Stevens; She is supported by members of the Tor View staff team and they deliver a range of exciting and fun activities for the pupils. This is together with Mrs Debbie Saxton, who provides all of the important administration support.
Times
HORIZONS currently runs term-time only (Monday to Thursday, from 3.15 – 5.00 pm). All participants are provided with a drink and a light snack prior to beginning the activities and then Parents and Carers are asked to collect their child promptly at 5.00 pm.
Please note: unfortunately late collections are likely to incur a £5 fee for each additional 15 mins, this is to cover our costs for extended staff supervision.
Transport
Transport home is available for some pupils who qualify for Pupil Premium. For further information regarding eligibility, please contact the school directly.
Costs and Registration
Costs – The costs associated with each activity are available from the HORIZONS Manager and the fees are payable in advance, in half termly installments. Reduced rates may be available to those children who qualify for Pupil Premium; Parents and Carers are encouraged to contact the school for further information regarding eligibility.
Registration – To register your child for a place at HORIZONS, please contact Lyndsay Stevens for an application form and return it to her at school. Parents and Carers are asked to read the HORIZONS policy which we ask staff and pupils to adhere to throughout all activities.
Activities
Weekly: A range of fun and engaging activities are arranged at HORIZONS, designed to suit all ages and abilities. We encourage all of the pupils to participate and can tailor the offering to suit those attending each evening, there really IS something for everybody! The activities currently on offer may include Fun and Games; Art, Craft and Junk Modelling; Dance; Cycling; Cookery and Film Nights, all organised by our friendly team. We have 2 weekly sessions that are hosted by other organisations but are fully supported by the Tor View HORIZONS team:
Football (Monday): These sessions are run by qualified football coaches from Burnley FC and are tailored for all abilities and levels of interest.
Ski Club (Thursday): These sessions are run by a qualified ski instructor at Rossendale Ski Centre and are suitable for Beginners and Intermediates. Please contact Lyndsay Stevens/ Sarah Orme to be added to the waiting list.
