Specialist Leaders in Cultural Education

The Specialist Leaders in Cultural Education Programme (SLICE) was devised in response to Darren Henley’s (Chief Executive of Arts Council England) recommendations in his review of Cultural Education. We are currently working in partnership with Curious Minds on a three year programme of investment and activity funded by the Department for Education to put in to practice recommendations from the report. This involves Teaching School Alliances such as ours playing a key role in increasing access to and raising the standard of cultural education for children and young people in the North West. The short video below explains more about the SLICE programme.

Our Specialist Leader in Cultural Education, Louise Parrish, Deputy Headteacher at Tor View Specialist Learning Community, talks about her experience of the SLICE programme below and her research findings can be found in documents section on this page.
