For careers week in College Link, we have done various activities. We accessed the computers at Accrington College to look at the prospectuses of three local colleges. We then looked into what course they did and how they compared to the interests of the students. The students then had to research the qualifications needed to access the courses.
Secondly students booked in 1:1 appointment with the Careers Advisor at Accrington and Rossendale College to discuss an individualised pathway to employment.
Thirdly they each developed an Individual Learning Plan, this will allow our students to recognise their strengths and capitalize on them, whilst understanding their areas for improvement and therefore thinking of ways they can work on them. Alongside this they looked at long term goals, likes and dislikes. These detailed plans will be a document they can use to take into Adult learning in the future should they wish to.
